Clinical Waste Across Yorkshire's Cities, Towns and Rural Dales

Yorkshire is England's largest historic county, and its healthcare is organised through three integrated care boards: West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, and Humber and North Yorkshire. Leeds and Sheffield have their own large teaching hospital trusts, but much of the county's care happens elsewhere.

In the east, Hull University Teaching Hospitals runs Hull Royal Infirmary, and York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals serves York and the coast. Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust serves the spa town and the Dales. In West Yorkshire, Bradford Teaching Hospitals, Airedale, Calderdale and Huddersfield, and Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust cover the towns around Leeds. South Yorkshire has trusts in Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster.

Training and research add to demand. Hull York Medical School trains doctors in both cities, and the University of Bradford teaches pharmacy. Across the county there are large numbers of GP surgeries, dental practices, care homes, pharmacies and vets.

With producers spread from the Pennines to the coast, consistency matters. We set collection patterns that suit each Yorkshire site and provide the consignment notes that prove your Duty of Care, while your team segregates waste using HTM 07-01 colour codes.

Who We Work With

Who We Collect From Across Yorkshire

Clinical waste producers across Yorkshire range from city clinics to rural practices. These are the sectors we support most across the county.

Care Homes on the Coast and in the Dales

Scarborough, Bridlington, Whitby and Harrogate are home to many care and nursing homes. We collect sharps, continence waste and unwanted medicines from the colour-coded containers your care staff already use.

GP, Dental and Pharmacy Practices in West Yorkshire

Bradford, Huddersfield, Halifax and Wakefield have dense primary care networks. We collect infectious waste, sharps, amalgam and medicines, with collections planned around each practice and full consignment records.

Farm and Equine Vets in North Yorkshire

Rural practices around Thirsk, Northallerton, Malton and Settle handle sharps, anatomical waste and veterinary medicines. We plan collections around rural locations and record every hazardous load properly.

University and Research Labs in York and Hull

Research groups linked to Hull York Medical School and the universities in both cities generate laboratory waste and contaminated sharps. We agree waste codes with your lab team and send each stream to the right treatment route.

How It Works

Clinical Waste Collection in Four Steps

A simple setup with compliance built in from the first collection.

Tell Us What You Produce

Share your waste streams, rough volumes and site details so we can match each stream to the right collection and treatment route.

Have Your Waste Ready

Keep each stream in its own compliant, correctly labelled container in a secure storage area, ready for collection.

Scheduled Collections

Collections are planned around your site, access and volumes, from a single practice to a multi-site estate.

All Yorkshire businesses that produce clinical waste need a licensed collection. That includes GP and dental practices in Bradford and Wakefield, care homes in Scarborough and Harrogate, pharmacies, farm vets in North Yorkshire, private clinics, tattoo studios and research labs in York and Hull. Every producer carries a Duty of Care.

Match each item to its colour. Yellow takes infectious waste that must be incinerated, and orange takes infectious waste suitable for alternative treatment. Yellow and black stripes take offensive hygiene waste. Purple takes cytotoxic medicines, blue takes other medicines, red takes anatomical waste and white takes dental amalgam.

Each hazardous clinical collection needs a hazardous waste consignment note, which you must keep for at least three years. Non-hazardous streams need a waste transfer note. These records prove your waste reached licensed treatment. We provide the correct paperwork at every collection, ready for any inspection.

Yes. We support businesses right across the county, from city practices in Hull and Bradford to vets and care homes in the Dales, the North York Moors and the coast. Collection patterns are planned around your output and storage, so rural sites receive the same compliant service.

The collection schedule is agreed with you at set-up, based on your volumes and storage space, and reviewed whenever your needs change. Across Yorkshire, you need your own compliant colour-coded containers that follow HTM 07-01, correctly labelled for each stream, and a secure storage area. We provide licensed collection together with every consignment note and Duty of Care record.

No. We collect clinical waste from businesses and organisations, never from homes. Residents should contact their local council for household clinical waste, such as City of York Council, Hull City Council, North Yorkshire Council or Bradford Council. Your GP or pharmacist can also advise on disposing of sharps at home.
