Licensed clinical waste collection for Birmingham businesses, from Edgbaston and Selly Oak to practices and care homes in Solihull and Sutton Coldfield.
Licensed clinical waste collection for businesses, with full Duty of Care paperwork on every collection.

Birmingham has a large and highly specialised hospital estate. University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust runs Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in Edgbaston, Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital. After its 2018 merger, the trust reported around 2,700 beds across those four main sites.
NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board oversees local health services. Close to the Edgbaston campus, the University of Birmingham and Bruntwood SciTech are developing the Birmingham Health Innovation Campus at Selly Oak. The Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry is based on the former BBC Pebble Mill site.
This mix of acute care, teaching and life science creates a wide range of waste. Hospitals and research sites are only part of the picture. Private hospitals, community pharmacies, dental groups, opticians and care homes all add to the clinical waste produced across the city every week.
For every producer the rules are the same. Segregate in line with HTM 07-01, store waste securely and use a licensed carrier. Our collections come with hazardous waste consignment notes and full Duty of Care documentation, giving you a clear record from your site to compliant treatment.
From sharps in a single treatment room to infectious, cytotoxic and pharmaceutical waste across a multi-site estate, every stream is collected compliantly and backed by the right paperwork.

We support businesses that produce clinical, hygiene and pharmaceutical waste across the city and the wider West Midlands.
Birmingham trains dentists at its Pebble Mill dental hospital and school, and practices across the city need routines to match. We collect amalgam, extracted teeth, sharps and infectious waste from your correctly labelled, colour-coded containers.
Independent hospitals, consulting rooms and day surgery units around Edgbaston and Harborne produce sharps, infectious waste, medicines and anatomical waste. Your clinical team segregates each stream at the point of use, and we collect it under the correct waste code.
Research tenants around the University of Birmingham and the Health Innovation Campus at Selly Oak handle cultures, contaminated plastics and sharps. We collect laboratory waste with full traceability and the correct waste codes.
Care providers across Erdington, Sutton Coldfield, Solihull and Kings Norton produce offensive waste, sharps and unused medicines. Regular collections stop waste stacking up in limited storage areas.
A simple setup with compliance built in from the first collection.
Share your waste streams, rough volumes and site details so we can match each stream to the right collection and treatment route.
Keep each stream in its own compliant, correctly labelled container in a secure storage area, ready for collection.
Collections are planned around your site, access and volumes, from a single practice to a multi-site estate.
Every collection comes with a hazardous waste consignment note and the records you need to show Duty of Care.
We cover the B postcode area, including Solihull and Sutton Coldfield, plus neighbouring parts of WS, WV, DY and CV.
Single practices and multi-site groups across the city receive the same licensed service and the same standard of documentation.

Birmingham businesses that produce sharps, infectious waste, medicines, anatomical waste or offensive hygiene waste need a licensed collection. Common examples are GP surgeries, dental practices, private hospitals, pharmacies, care homes, vets, laboratories, tattoo studios and aesthetics clinics. Gyms and workplaces with first aid rooms or occupational health services may also produce clinical waste.
Birmingham follows the national HTM 07-01 guidance. Infectious waste goes in orange or yellow depending on how it must be treated. Offensive waste goes in yellow and black tiger bags. Cytotoxic and cytostatic waste uses purple, other medicines use blue and anatomical waste uses red. Your staff are responsible for putting every item in the right container.
You need a hazardous waste consignment note for each hazardous collection, kept for at least three years. Non-hazardous waste, such as offensive waste, needs a waste transfer note kept for at least two years. Keep a copy of your carrier's licence too. Together these show you have met your Duty of Care. We provide all of them.
Yes. Laboratories produce cultures, stocks, contaminated plastics, sharps and sometimes anatomical or cytotoxic waste. We work with research teams to classify each stream and assign the correct waste codes. That suits university spin-outs, contract labs and tenants at sites such as the Health Innovation Campus at Selly Oak.
Collection is planned around a regular schedule agreed with you, such as weekly, fortnightly or monthly. On site you need your own compliant colour-coded containers, correctly labelled for each waste stream, and a secure, lockable storage area. We provide licensed collection plus every consignment note and Duty of Care record. If your output changes, for example when a clinic adds new treatments, we review the collection frequency with you.
No. Our clinical waste service is for businesses only. Birmingham residents who need sharps or other clinical waste collected from home should contact Birmingham City Council. Solihull residents should contact Solihull Council. Your GP or pharmacist can help you get a sharps bin and explain how to return it.
