Licensed clinical waste collection for clinics, labs and care providers across Newcastle and Tyneside, from Newcastle Helix to the coast.
Licensed clinical waste collection for businesses, with full Duty of Care paperwork on every collection.

Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs the Royal Victoria Infirmary, the Freeman Hospital, the Great North Children's Hospital and Newcastle Dental Hospital. It also runs the Campus for Ageing and Vitality on the former Newcastle General Hospital site. Newcastle University also trains doctors and dentists in the city.
Health services across the region are commissioned by NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board. The International Centre for Life, the UK's first biotechnology village, hosts the NHS Newcastle Fertility Centre and the Northern Genetics Service alongside university research teams.
Newcastle Helix, a 24-acre city quarter for science and technology, is home to The Biosphere's commercial labs and the National Innovation Centre for Ageing. Together these sites make the city a busy source of laboratory, genetic and research waste, on top of the waste produced by hospitals and community care.
Outside the main sites, practices and care homes across Tyneside need the same standards. Small sites often have the least storage space, so a reliable collection schedule makes a real difference. Every collection is licensed, every stream goes to a compliant treatment route, and you receive hazardous waste consignment notes and full Duty of Care documentation each time.
From sharps in a single treatment room to infectious, cytotoxic and pharmaceutical waste across a multi-site estate, every stream is collected compliantly and backed by the right paperwork.
One accountable partner for clinical, hazardous and specialist waste, backed by more than 25 years of regulated waste experience.
Collections for clinics, practices, care providers, labs and workplaces. We never collect from households.
Sharps, infectious, offensive, cytotoxic, pharmaceutical, anatomical, dental and laboratory waste, collected under one arrangement.
Hazardous waste consignment notes and Duty of Care records for every collection, ready for inspection.
Independently verified to meet high standards of social and environmental performance.
Tell us what you produce, how it is stored and where your sites are. We will confirm the right streams, collection routes and paperwork.
We support Tyneside businesses that produce healthcare, laboratory and hygiene waste, from start-ups to established groups.
Tenants at Newcastle Helix, The Biosphere and the International Centre for Life produce cultures, contaminated plastics and sharps. We classify each stream, assign the right codes and collect with full traceability.
Fertility, diagnostic, cosmetic and private GP clinics in Jesmond, Gosforth and the city centre produce sharps, infectious waste and medicines. We plan collections that suit small treatment rooms.
Surgeries across Newcastle, Gateshead and North Tyneside handle sharps, swabs, vaccine waste and dental amalgam. We collect from your colour-coded containers and provide the consignment notes your practice needs for inspections.
Care providers from Wallsend to South Shields produce offensive hygiene waste, incontinence products and medicines. Correct segregation keeps costs in check and keeps residents and staff safe.
A simple setup with compliance built in from the first collection.
Share your waste streams, rough volumes and site details so we can match each stream to the right collection and treatment route.
Keep each stream in its own compliant, correctly labelled container in a secure storage area, ready for collection.
Collections are planned around your site, access and volumes, from a single practice to a multi-site estate.
Every collection comes with a hazardous waste consignment note and the records you need to show Duty of Care.
We cover the NE postcode area, including Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside and South Tyneside, with neighbouring parts of DH and SR.
Whether your site is a lab at Newcastle Helix or a care home on the coast, we plan collections that fit your access and storage.

Any Newcastle business producing clinical, laboratory, pharmaceutical or hygiene waste needs a licensed collection. That includes research labs at Newcastle Helix, GP and dental practices, pharmacies, care homes, private clinics, vets, tattoo studios and aesthetics clinics. If staff use needles, handle body fluids or dispose of medicines, the waste must be segregated and documented correctly.
HTM 07-01 uses colour to show how waste is treated. Orange bags take infectious waste for alternative treatment and yellow bags take infectious waste for incineration. Tiger bags are for offensive waste. Purple lids mean cytotoxic, blue lids other medicines and red lids anatomical waste. Sharps bins follow the same lid colours based on any medicine contamination.
Keep hazardous waste consignment notes for at least three years and waste transfer notes for at least two years. Add a copy of your carrier's licence and any waste audits or pre-acceptance checks. This file proves you have met your Duty of Care. We provide the core documents after every collection.
Yes. Laboratories produce cultures, stocks, contaminated plastics, sharps and sometimes genetically modified material. We work with your safety lead to classify each stream and apply the right waste codes. We then collect under full documentation, which suits research tenants, spin-outs and university teams across the city.
Collections follow a regular schedule agreed with you, such as weekly, fortnightly or monthly, based on your output. You need your own correctly labelled, colour-coded containers that meet HTM 07-01 and a secure place to keep them until collection. We supply the consignment notes and Duty of Care records each time. If volumes change, we adjust frequency so waste never sits on site for longer than it should.
No. Our service is for businesses only. Newcastle residents who need sharps or other clinical waste collected from home should contact Newcastle City Council. If you live in Gateshead, North Tyneside or South Tyneside, contact your own council. Your GP or pharmacist can also advise.
