Licensed clinical waste collection for clinics, labs, vets and care providers across Liverpool and Merseyside, including the Knowledge Quarter.
Licensed clinical waste collection for businesses, with full Duty of Care paperwork on every collection.

Much of Liverpool's healthcare activity is concentrated around the Knowledge Quarter. The area brings together the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Liverpool Women's Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. It also includes the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University's Mount Pleasant Campus.
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust also runs Aintree University Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital. Across the wider region, NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board plans and funds local services. Liverpool Science Park and the Paddington Village development add a growing base of research and life science tenants.
The University of Liverpool trains doctors, dentists and vets, and runs a small animal teaching hospital at Leahurst on the Wirral. That mix means Merseyside produces almost every clinical waste stream, from anatomical and laboratory waste to animal tissue, sharps and cytotoxic medicines.
Each stream has its own container, waste code and treatment route. Getting it wrong can lead to rejected loads or enforcement action. Clear segregation at source is the simplest way to avoid that. We provide licensed collection, compliant treatment and full Duty of Care documentation for businesses of every size, with hazardous waste consignment notes on every relevant collection.
From sharps in a single treatment room to infectious, cytotoxic and pharmaceutical waste across a multi-site estate, every stream is collected compliantly and backed by the right paperwork.
One accountable partner for clinical, hazardous and specialist waste, backed by more than 25 years of regulated waste experience.
Collections for clinics, practices, care providers, labs and workplaces. We never collect from households.
Sharps, infectious, offensive, cytotoxic, pharmaceutical, anatomical, dental and laboratory waste, collected under one arrangement.
Hazardous waste consignment notes and Duty of Care records for every collection, ready for inspection.
Independently verified to meet high standards of social and environmental performance.
Tell us what you produce, how it is stored and where your sites are. We will confirm the right streams, collection routes and paperwork.
Our service is built for businesses, from single practitioners to multi-site groups on both sides of the Mersey.
Merseyside's vet practices sit alongside the University of Liverpool's vet school and its Leahurst campus. Practices produce sharps, infectious waste, medicines and animal tissue, and we collect each stream under the correct waste codes.
Practices and pharmacies from Bootle to Garston handle sharps, swabs, returned medicines and vaccine waste. We collect on a regular schedule and keep your documentation in order for inspections and contract checks.
Laboratories in the Knowledge Quarter, Liverpool Science Park and Paddington Village generate cultures, contaminated consumables and sharps. We collect laboratory streams under the correct waste codes, with full traceability for every consignment.
Residential and nursing homes in Wirral, Sefton, Knowsley and St Helens produce offensive waste, incontinence products and medicines. Correct tiger bag segregation keeps disposal costs down and protects care staff.
A simple setup with compliance built in from the first collection.
Share your waste streams, rough volumes and site details so we can match each stream to the right collection and treatment route.
Keep each stream in its own compliant, correctly labelled container in a secure storage area, ready for collection.
Collections are planned around your site, access and volumes, from a single practice to a multi-site estate.
Every collection comes with a hazardous waste consignment note and the records you need to show Duty of Care.
We collect across the L postcode area, the Wirral's CH postcodes and neighbouring parts of WA and PR.
From a single surgery in Southport to a group of care homes across the Wirral, we set up one collection plan that fits each site.

Any Liverpool business producing clinical, pharmaceutical or hygiene waste needs a licensed collection. That includes GP and dental practices, pharmacies, care homes, vets, private clinics, research labs, tattoo studios and aesthetics practitioners. If your staff use needles, handle body fluids or dispose of medicines, the waste must be segregated and collected under Duty of Care rules.
The colours come from HTM 07-01. Orange marks infectious waste suitable for alternative treatment. Yellow marks infectious waste that must be incinerated. Yellow and black stripes mean offensive waste. Purple lids are for cytotoxic and cytostatic items, blue lids for other medicines and red lids for anatomical waste. Using the right colour sends each item to the correct treatment route.
Keep hazardous waste consignment notes for at least three years and waste transfer notes for non-hazardous waste for at least two years. Your records should show what the waste was, its waste code, who collected it and where it went. We provide this documentation with each collection, giving you a clear Duty of Care trail.
Yes. Veterinary practices produce sharps, infectious waste, out-of-date medicines and animal tissue. These are classed and coded in the same way as human healthcare waste, with veterinary waste codes. Your practice segregates each stream into its own containers, and we collect from vet practices across Liverpool, the Wirral and the rest of Merseyside.
After a short review of your waste, we agree a regular schedule, whether weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Your business needs its own HTM 07-01 colour-coded containers, labelled correctly for each stream, and a secure storage area. We handle licensed collection and provide consignment notes and Duty of Care records. If you open a new clinic room or take on more patients, we adjust collection frequency to match.
No. Waste Experts works with businesses only. Residents in Liverpool should contact Liverpool City Council about collecting sharps or clinical waste from home. If you live in Wirral, Sefton, Knowsley or St Helens, contact your own council. Your GP or pharmacy can also advise on sharps bins.
