Overview
End-of-Life Solutions for Renewable Assets
The first wave of UK solar farms is approaching decommissioning, and battery storage and EV charging assets are following. These are regulated waste streams: solar panels fall under the WEEE Regulations, and lithium battery systems are handled and transported as dangerous goods. We collect anything from installer returns to whole sites, and our ROSI partnership returns the silicon, glass and metals in each panel to manufacturing.

Why Waste Experts
Why the Renewables Sector Chooses Waste Experts
Renewable assets should be retired as responsibly as they were installed. We bring the licences, the logistics and the recovery partners to do that.
Solar Recovery Through ROSI
Panels go through our ROSI partnership, which returns silicon, glass and metals to manufacturing.
BESS and High Voltage Specialists
Battery storage, inverters and EV chargers handled by trained teams, with lithium treated as dangerous goods.
Whole-Site Decommissioning
From a pallet of returns to a full solar farm, including cabling, mounting structures and other site waste.
Nationwide Collection
Our own fleet collects from installers, warehouses and remote sites across the UK.
Compliance
Renewable Energy Waste Regulations
Solar panels are covered by the WEEE Regulations 2013 and must go to an approved treatment facility. Battery storage falls under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009, and lithium batteries are transported as dangerous goods under ADR. Decommissioning work also carries the usual Duty of Care for every stream on site.
We provide the paperwork for each stream, so your decommissioning file is complete. Our solar farm decommissioning guide covers planning in more detail.

FAQs
Renewable Energy Waste FAQs
Are solar panels classed as WEEE?
Yes. Solar panels are electrical waste under the WEEE Regulations 2013 and must be collected by a licensed carrier and treated at an approved facility.
What happens to the panels you collect?
Panels go through our ROSI partnership, which recovers silicon, glass and metals for reuse in manufacturing.
Can you handle a full solar farm decommission?
Yes. We plan phased removals, provide the vehicles and containers, and take cabling and mounting structures as well as the panels.
Do you recycle battery energy storage systems?
Yes. We collect and treat BESS, with lithium handled and transported as dangerous goods and full paperwork for every load.
Can you recycle EV chargers and inverters?
Yes. EV chargers, inverters and power conversion units are treated as high voltage equipment, with a full chain of custody.
