Our first division, Lampcare UK was formed in Scotland in the year 2000 with the goal of providing sustainable light recycling to the industry. The company made it their mission to recycle lamps, reducing the amount of waste in the environment and promoting a greener future. Over the years, Lampcare UK became a leading provider lamp recycling, offering a wide range of services that were both functional and environmentally friendly. With their commitment to quality and sustainability, Lampcare UK was dedicated to making a positive impact on the world and providing customers with recycling solutions that meet their needs while also being kind to the planet.
In 2004, City Electrical Factors (CEF) became a major shareholder in Lampcare UK, enabling Lampcare UK to expand its services and strengthen its market position. CEF, established in 1951, is one of the largest distributors of electrical products in the UK and offers a comprehensive range of electrical equipment and accessories to contractors and installers. The partnership between CEF and Lampcare UK allowed both companies to diversify their product offerings and tap into the growing demand for light recycling solutions. The joint venture brought together the expertise and resources of two leading companies in the electrical industry, providing customers with access to a wide range of high-quality products and services.
By 2013, the company had rebranded to Electrical Waste Recycling Group and made history by becoming the first and only company in the UK with the necessary equipment, knowledge, and government approval to mechanically process Flat Panel Displays (FPDs). This achievement reflected EWRG's commitment to providing safe, responsible, and sustainable solutions for the disposal and recycling of electronic waste, including FPDs.
EWRG's state-of-the-art facilities and highly trained personnel allowed the company to offer its customers a comprehensive FPD processing service that met the highest environmental and health and safety standards. The company's unique ability to process FPDs, along with other forms of electronic waste, such as lamps, mercury, copper cable, and batteries, solidified its position as a leading provider of electrical waste recycling services.
In a strategic move to expand its operations and better serve the lighting sector, EWRG acquired Lumicom, a WEEE producer compliance scheme. Lumicom was well-respected in the industry for its expertise and commitment to sustainability, making it a natural fit for EWRG. With this acquisition, EWRG strengthened its position as a leading provider of WEEE recycling and compliance services, offering a comprehensive solution to producers in the lighting sector. The acquisition of Lumicom allowed EWRG to expand its reach and offer its clients an even wider range of services, further solidifying its position as a trusted partner in the world of electrical waste recycling.
Formerly known as EWRG, Waste Experts underwent a rebranding process to better represent its diverse range of environmental solutions and total waste management services. The rebranding marked a significant shift in the company's focus, as it aimed to expand its reach and provide comprehensive waste management solutions to its customers. The new name reflected the company's expertise in all aspects of waste management, from collection and processing to disposal and recycling, and its commitment to sustainability. With advanced facilities, skilled personnel, and a dedication to high standards, Waste Experts offered innovative and reliable waste management services to meet the evolving needs of businesses and producers.
