Micro-volunteering Day is a noteworthy initiative established by Help From Home, a global advocate of micro-actions since 2008. This day was first introduced in 2014 and has since garnered significant attention, with numerous organizations and countless individuals devoting their spare time to worthy causes. The core objective of Micro-volunteering Day is to inspire and engage individuals in performing micro-volunteering activities, encourage organizations to promote this idea, facilitate discussions on the concept, and share experiences and images on social media platforms using the hashtags #microday or #microvolunteering.
The idea behind micro-volunteering is to offer short and convenient opportunities for people to engage in volunteer activities that are typically uncomplicated, time-efficient, and can be done remotely. Micro-volunteering tasks might range from conducting online research, promoting social media campaigns, or creating crafts or cards for individuals in need.

So, what is micro-volunteering?
The term “micro-volunteering” was first introduced by The Extraordinaries (Skills For Change) in 2008. Since then, the concept has grown exponentially, becoming a global phenomenon that unites individuals seeking to contribute their time towards meaningful causes through small volunteering tasks. The rise of micro-volunteering can be attributed to its characteristics as a “bite-sized,” on-demand, and no-commitment approach to volunteering that delivers significant benefits to worthy causes.
Micro-volunteering is an excellent way for individuals to make a difference, regardless of their busy schedules. Tasks can be completed in as little as one to 30 minutes, enabling individuals to contribute their skills and expertise to various causes without disrupting their routine. This form of volunteering has a positive impact on both volunteers and the organizations they support. Volunteers can develop new skills, form new connections, and broaden their knowledge, while organizations benefit from low-cost project management and a stronger community presence.
we are making a difference
Waste Experts is bringing in a new initiative…
Waste Experts is proud to announce our commitment to giving back to our communities this year. As a company, we recognize the importance of supporting our local areas and making a positive impact. To demonstrate our commitment, we have decided to offer all salaried staff one full day’s pay to participate in a volunteering or charitable activity of their choice.
We believe that supporting our communities is essential, and we want to encourage our staff to get involved in activities that they are passionate about. Our employees can choose from a variety of activities, including a team beach clean, a team litter pick, volunteering in a soup kitchen, volunteering in a charity shop, refurbishing IT equipment and donating it to local schools, participating in a Christmas shoebox appeal, donating Easter eggs to a children’s home, or taking part in a staff raffle.
Our aim is to encourage our employees to give back in a way that is meaningful to them while also making a positive impact in our communities. We hope that this initiative will inspire our staff to develop a deeper connection to the areas in which we operate and promote a culture of giving back within our company.
We are always open to new ideas and initiatives that support our communities, we would like to extend an invitation to anyone who is interested in learning more about our new initiative or would like our support in any way.
